Refrigerator
If you lose power to your frige or freezer, repair needs to occur quickly! If at any point, you feel you can't repair the fridge on your own, feel free to contact us immediately. Two quick tips on how to help restore power quickly: First, check to see what type of outlet your refrigerator is plugged into, if it is a GFI outlet, you can simply reset the GFI and see if power returns. If this works you need to still make arrangements with a CityElectrician.com electrician in your area to replace the GFI with a regular outlet as soon as possible. GFI outlets are very sensitive, and you don't want out and lose power to your refrigerator ruining all the food inside just because the GFI accidentally shut off, or because the electrical fuse has blown. Second, if power is not restored to the outlet that your refrigerator nas been plugged into, you should call an electrician who is experienced at troubleshooting circuit breakers and fuses to quickly locate and fix the problem. It is a good idea to plug the refrigerator into a heavy-duty extension cord and then into an outlet that does receive power in order to keep your food from spoiling while waiting for the electrician to arrive at your home.
Smoke Detectors
Smoke Detectors are an essential home safety device, alhough smoke detectors sometimes begin to sound off or sound off nonstop alarm for no reason. A tip on how to handle this type of situation, if it's a battery powered smoke detector replace the battery. If it is a 120 volt smoke detector, the you must turn the circuit breaker off one breaker at a time until the noise stops. Then turn the rest of the circuit breakers again except the one that controls the smoke detector. You will then need to replace the 120 volt smoke detector to fix this problem.

Garbage Disposal
If your garbage disposal should stop working for any reason here is a list of steps you should follow: 1. Go to your circuit breaker and flip the breaker off for the kitchen area prior to reaching your hand or anyother object into the garbage disposal. 2. Clear out anything located inside the garbage disposal which could lead to the disposal being jammed and the motor stopping for any reason. 3. Turn the circuit breaker back on and then briefly flip the switch to the garbage disposal. Do you hear any noises coming from the disposal? If you hear a humming noise then there is power going to the disposal and the problem is with the disposaland not your electricity. 4. If you turn on the garbage disposal and no noise is coming from the disposal, find the small reset button on the disposal iteslef and press reset. Try turning the disposal on again. 4. If this does not work, try to reset the entire circuit breaker in order to restore the power to the disposal. However, if none of these steps solves the problem, then it is time to call the CityElectrician.com electrician in your area.
Telephone
When the power goes out in your home for any reason, realize that your cordless phone will not work because the base unit will have no power. Telephones that are directly plugged into the wall, however, will still work because they require no power to the unit for service.
